Warsaw Mountain Madness @ Truman Lake Oct4th

The Midwest Fat Tire Series came to a close with the above race. Team Seagal's Cock Punchor and I drove west on I-70 for a couple of hours and then south past Sedalia to scenic Truman Lake. Fun course and bbq with all the fixins after. Ol' Puncher had no competition in the single-speed class and so he like won it and the point series itself. *Sniff* I'm so proud of him.

check out the van-trailer or vanailer behind Punchor and Junior. Classy.

For some reason after copious amounts of Pabst, Punchor thought it would be a good idea to strip down to his boxers. Parents were caught unaware and children were scarred. Luckily, counselors were brought in.

This guy looks like someone I know but his name escapes me. Hmmm. Nope, nuthin.

Dropped me on the last hill climb and then scarfed down hand fulls of pulled pork.

My Boy Can Swim!

He came pretty close last year so I knew this summer would be it. The Big Guy is all over the pool now and the above underwater shot is a dive into *gasp* THE DEEP END.

Midwest Singlespeed Wrestling Championship June 31st 2009

Blogging, it's more a chore than a pleasure. Jaded? A little. After more than a month between posts I give you a more than a month old event. It was an EVENT. Now it's a fleeting memory, but is was lotso fun!

Grab yer six packs and 12vers and don't forget yer 40's it's The 1st Annual Midwest Singlespeed Wrestling Championship! Only a short month ago this beer for play event took Jeff City by storm. Krush, Judge Dread and Fast C and I took the wagon family truckster down to the shindig were we saddled up for some two wheeled damage on the wooded windy shores of Binder Lake home to some tight minty fresh singletrack. (This post does not contain any actual race photos, busy racing)

Afterwards we were treated to a barbeque and a wrassling match featuring promoter extraordinaire Nik.

See the Lake. Feel the eerie calm before the mayhem.

Just a smattering of the coldies that were sampled after the MWSWC.

Well boys, The race is finito, it's wrasslin' time. Who wants to wrassle The Nickster?

Jus' ano' 40 before killin' time.

Let's Grapple!

Swing yer partner to and fro

When yer undies get torn out of yer shorts its match over. Check out the Seagals snickering in the background.

I love you man, See ya next year!

Goofing off till The 10th Annual Rhett's Run

It was time once again for one of my favorite racing events, Rhett's Run. It crept up on me during a period of goofing around a.k.a. summertime family stuff. Camping, Fishing, Floating, outdoor home improvements. Head's Helpful Hint #1: You really don't need 8 tons of black dirt.

I didn't take any photos of the race. It rained. Wow, there's a shocker. A few of the rolling mass that usually fair well at these things had a day. Slick course meant slower lap times for me and the fellas. Krush, Fast Chad and I were all 5+ minutes slower this year. Disappointment. I have to say that should be expected when there are riders who train very hard and us. The course (by the time we began) was a little slick and still somewhat wet. Last years course was in a little bit better shape and we were able to get in 4 laps. Not this year for any of the dudes.

For the very first time in 10+ seasons of racing I was a little disappointed with the lack of sportsmanship, in general and from one team in particular, relax guys this ain't The Nationals. I had a beer. Still disappointed. After Race Coldies came flying in from all directions. Thanks Team Seagal -for a few ice cold Pabst- and Red Wheel after I ran out you guys were there for me. Hung out and shot the shit for a few hours (met the good folks at Team Trail Monster) whilst I waited for my chance at Swag and others waited for Glory. Didn't win, usually do. No matter, suds were flowing. Then off to Krush's where I enjoyed another Sierra Nevada Pale Ale while sitting on his front porch then off to a Fast Chad - Head family BBQ. FC can chef it up on the grill!

Training for Rhett's:

Racing with Emma and getting the beat down.

I tried and tried to drop this pesky critter.

...then the water fight beat down, check out my jersey tan.

Fishing with my angling buddy down on the Mineral Fork. Mineral Fork = catching fish everytime

Payson has mad casting skillz. Seriously.

Head's Helpful Hint #2: You can't go wrong with a brown Rooster Tail in an Ozark Stream.

Featured Coldie O' The Month!

Wheach! A peach flavored wheat brew that quenches the lawn mowing summer thirst with a well balanced wheat in front and a subtle peach finish that makes for easy drinking. I normally don't dig this style of beer, but this is some mighty fine suds. From the swell folks from O'Fallon, makers of 5 Day IPA, another Head favorite.

The Burr Oak 5/7

I enjoy riding under this tree. It's the 2nd largest Burr Oak in America (largest is in Kentucky) and it's over 350 years old. It grows in McBane, Mo about 20 miles from my home. It doesn't look like much when you see it across a field but the closer you get...

People are usually hanging out underneath it. Smoking the ganj, quaffing brews, taking photos or just giving it a hug. Folks get married too

Someone told me John Updike was shown the oak after a speech at Mizzou, asked what he thought of it, He replied, "That's a big fucking tree!"

Nice to know it's just down the road in BoCoMo
